Went to China over the summer. Fun. Favorite thing? Walking casually along some crowded street, chatting in chinese with relatives, crossing the street like you own the place (while secretly praying you don't get killed), turning corners like you totally know where you're going, and just pretending like you belong. I was born in that city, lived in there for three years, but even if it is home, I'm a stranger there. But, yes, it's fun to pretend I'm not. Least favorite thing? Public bathrooms. Don't get me started.

10. After finishing something exhausting, being able to rest and feel proud of your work
9.Waking up, looking at the clock, and seeing you still have an hour to go before you need to get up...then drifting back into a snuggly half sleep
8. Silence except for birds chirping and insects buzzing
7. the noise of dozens of people, each talking, laughing, working, doing their own thing
6. Water-- each and every form and kind
5. Unexpectedly seeing a friend somewhere
